Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services in Houston, TX is seeking a Lead Field EST Technician to provide hands-on technical and operations support for reciprocating compression equipment and related utility systems focused on emissions reduction through mechanical upgrades.

Responsibilities include commissioning, start-up, operations, preventive and corrective maintenance, performance testing, and troubleshooting as required.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree with technical concentration or equivalent work experience.
  • Formal training in a technical certificate program.
  • Technical training in the oil and gas industry or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute site installation activities for reciprocating compression equipment related to emissions reduction modifications.
  • Investigate and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to eliminate future operational or service difficulties.
  • Diagnose and correct engine or compressor problems in field.
  • Perform testing of equipment in the field.
  • Carry out minor to major repairs on customer equipment including reciprocating engines and compressors.
  • Complete daily safety checks and report safety concerns.
  • Monitor operating variables to ensure units stay within design parameters.
  • Attend on-site operations meetings and lead issue resolution with client personnel.
  • Participate in construction activities to ensure process designs are used safely.
  • Share best practices with engineering, sales, and operations teams.
  • Build relationships with customer contacts to manage long-term and short-term issues.
  • Support turn-around activities including planning and equipment inspection.

Job Overview

The Lead Field EST Technician will provide hands-on technical and operations support of reciprocating compression equipment and supporting utility systems within customer facilities related to mechanical upgrades for emissions reduction. Commissioning, start-up, operations, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance testing, and trouble-shooting situations as required. This position requires strong mechanical experience and familiarity with emissions reduction and electrical and controls support. Focus on emissions reduction will deliver a capable well-trained and experienced team.

  • Planning and execution of site installation activities for Reciprocating Compression equipment associated with emissions reduction modifications.
  • Investigate and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment.
  • Eliminate future operational or service difficulties by performing preventative maintenance as requested by the customer.
  • Through accepted standard troubleshooting processes, diagnose and correct engine problems and / or compressor problems.
  • Perform testing of equipment in the field.
  • Perform minor repairs, major repairs or corrective maintenance on customer equipment including reciprocating engines and compressors.
  • Complete daily safety checks and report safety concerns.
  • Monitor key and critical operating variables and other process data to ensure that the engine and compressor units are operating within design parameters.
  • On-site, attend operations meetings with client personnel to proactively identify issues and lead the efforts to resolve them.
  • Participate in construction activities to ensure process designs are used for operational and safety, identifying improvements in unit operations based on actual field experience.
  • Learn, share, and implement best practices with extended Reciprocating Compression Engineering, Sales, and Operations team members.
  • Establish working relationships with key customer contacts including operators, engineering, and maintenance personnel to proactively cultivate the customer relationship and manage long term and short-term issues.
  • Support turn-around activities for customers including identification / justification, procedure writing, reviews, equipment inspection, etc.

Required Qualifications
  • Associates Degree with a technical concentration or equivalent work experience
  • Formal training in a technical certificate program
  • Technical training in the oil and gas industry or associated industry
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Reciprocating Compression
  • Electrical and Controls experience is a plus.
  • Meets all sublevel (FTGNR I) requirements.
