Cooper Machinery Services is seeking a Field Service Representative to provide hands-on technical and operations support for reciprocating compression equipment and related systems at customer facilities.

The role involves on-site installations, repairs, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting across workshops, compressor stations, and process plants. Expect extensive travel (200–300 days/year) and long working hours, with emphasis on safety, leadership, and customer relations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree with a technical concentration or equivalent work experience recommended.
  • Formal technical certificate program training preferred.
  • Technical training in oil and gas industries is required.
  • Completion of Reciprocating Compression Systems product training desired.
  • 10–15 years in reciprocating compression is preferred.
  • Demonstrated safety focus and ability to multi-task in a field environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site installations, repairs, maintenance, and tests.
  • Act as SME for field services and customer support.
  • Deliver, install, repair, maintain, and test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in the field.
  • Develop customer relationships and document service progress.
  • Travel 200–300 days per year to various sites.

Job Overview

Field Service Representative will provide hands-on technical and operations support of reciprocating compression equipment and supporting utility systems within customer facilities during commissioning, start-up, operations, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance testing, and trouble-shooting situations as required. Subject Matter experts that run individual jobs and are the appointed Cooper liaison to the customer. Oversee and delegate work assignments. Responsible for writing up Field Service workbooks. To be a successful Field Service Representative, you should have excellent problem-solving and time management skills. Ultimately, a top-notch field service representative should have strong leadership, sales, service, and marketing skills.

  • The responsibilities of the field service representative include undertaking customer support tasks, completing on-site installations, repairs, maintenance, and tests, and ensuring proper task management so that all work progresses according to the schedule.
  • Serve as a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all technical areas of Field Services customer support. Providing technical and mechanical services support to all internal and external customers in settings such as workshops, compressor stations, process plants, etc. The incumbent is also expected to be an expert in the following:
  • Providing on-site technical support and performing customer support tasks.
  • Delivering, installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing equipment.
  • Resolving operational issues in the field.
  • Identifying any issues and performing troubleshooting procedures.
  • Determining customer needs and offering recommendations.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and sharing information to ensure top-notch customer support.
  • Managing work progress and ensuring adherence to schedules.
  • Tracking and documenting work progress and writing service reports.
  • Adhering to all of the company's rules and regulations.
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Travel 200-300 days per year anywhere from 2-14 weeks at a time.
  • Work extended hours up to 10-14 hours per day including weekends/holidays, 6 – 7 days per week. A typical work week can be 60-84 hours.
  • Ascend/descend ladders to examine equipment, position yourself to examine equipment including in confined spaces, move boxes weighing from 40 -50 pounds, work in outdoor weather conditions, walk long distances and share company vehicles with other employees at customer sites.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree with a technical concentration (Bachelor’s Degree recommended) or equivalent work experience (minimum)
  • Formal training in a technical certificate program
  • Technical training in the oil and gas industry or associated industry
  • Completion of all Reciprocating Compression Systems product training
    • Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in Reciprocating Compression
    • Meets all sublevel (FS Mechanic I, II, III, IV and Crew Chief) requirements
    • Must have the following attributes:
