Job summary
Stantec is seeking a consulting biologist to join its Southern California Ecosystems Group, operating from multiple offices including Ventura, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in biological resources surveys and report writing. The role involves field leadership, survey planning, and collaboration with project teams on energy and infrastructure projects across southern California.
Applicants should have a related degree, strong writing skills, GIS/GPS experience, and willingness to travel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Ecology or related field with 5+ years of experience.
- Experience conducting biological resources surveys and preparing technical reports.
- Ability to travel and coordinate field teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor field teams on renewable energy, oil and gas projects and other developments.
- Coordinate field tasks and surveys (special-status species, nesting birds, vegetation mapping, waters delineations).
- Provide training and mentoring to junior staff and contribute to reports and CEQA/NEPA documents.
- Assist with business development, RFPs, and proposal sections.
- Communicate results to clients and regulators and assist with permitting strategies.
