Job summary

UniTek Global Services, Inc. is seeking a mid- to senior-level Fiber Technician/Splicer for both aerial and underground fiber work in Texas. The role includes installing, splicing, and testing fiber, with leadership/foreman responsibilities in field operations.

Experience with OTDR, DWDM, and fiber test tools is required, as is ability to read plans and permits. The position requires 7-day standby every two weeks, travel within the coverage area, and proficiency with Word/Excel.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in cable construction and/or engineering experience with understanding of HFC architectures.
• 2-4 years of splicing experience in telecommunications or utility industry.
• Basic English to understand safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Terminate, splice, and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures for loose tube and ribbon fiber.
• Proficient with fusion splicer, power meter, and OTDR.
• Read and update splice documentation and maps as required.
• Available for 7-day/24-hour standby every 2 weeks.
• Climb ladders on poles for accessing aerial fiber plant.
• Perform aerial construction activities including installing aerial fiber and pole transfers.
• Perform underground construction activities including pulling cable and repairing conduits.
• Travel and stay overnight within the coverage area.
• Basic computer skills (Word and Excel).
• Other duties as assigned.
