Job summary

UniTek Global Services is seeking a mid- to senior-level Fiber Technician/Splicer to join our field teams in the San Antonio area. You will splice fiber, install aerial and underground fiber, and occasionally lead field operations.

You will work with OTDRs, OSAMs, and other optical test equipment while adhering to safety standards. The role requires 2–4 years of splicing experience, the ability to read site plans and maps, and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

Minimum two years in cable construction/engineering with knowledge of HFC architectures.
Experience splicing fibers and installing fiber optic connectors in varied environments.
Ability to read plans, maps and splice documentation and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

Terminate, splice, and install fiber optic connectors and enclosures for loose tube and ribbon fiber.
Operate fiber test equipment including fusion splicer, power meter, and OTDR.
Troubleshoot damaged fiber and update splice documentation and maps as required.
Be available for standby periods every 2 weeks and travel as needed.
Perform aerial and underground construction tasks including pole work and conduit deployment.
