Job summary

High-Light Electric is seeking a Fiber Optics Foreman to lead field crews on fiber optic and ITS projects across California. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on safety, quality, and accountability.

You will direct daily field activities, oversee OTDR testing and fiber troubleshooting, coordinate with project teams, train staff, and maintain thorough documentation using Procore or similar systems. Field-based work at active construction sites with varying day/night shifts and exposure

Qualifications

• Hands-on fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, termination, and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience leading fiber optic field crews with daily work assignments, safety, and productivity.
• Experience with outdoor public works, DOT, traffic management, or ITS infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of OTDR testing, optical power meters, and fiber troubleshooting procedures.
• Ability to read construction drawings, blueprints, specs, and installation requirements.
• OSHA 30 certification with verifiable documentation.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet California licensing requirements for travel between sites.
• Comfort using mobile devices/tablets for field reporting and documentation.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant training/experience considered for equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Lead Fiber Optic Crews: direct daily field activities including installation, routing, splicing, termination, testing, maintenance, and repairs.
• Perform OTDR testing, optical power measurements, fiber troubleshooting, and corrective work to meet specs.
• Oversee ITS infrastructure installations and troubleshooting (traffic cameras, signals, vehicle detection).
• Coordinate field operations with Superintendents, civil crews, and project teams.
• Lead daily safety meetings, enforce PPE and Cal/OSHA requirements, promote safe practices.
• Maintain documentation: daily reports, hours, fiber testing records, photos, as-builts, safety docs using Procore or similar systems.
• Monitor progress, resolve field challenges, manage tools/materials, communicate issues early.
• Train and mentor crew members, promote professionalism and quality workmanship.
