Job summary

NextGen | GTA: A Kelly Telecom Company is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Technician to splice various types of fiber, troubleshoot issues, and interpret blueprints and maps for field installations.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma or GED, 2+ years in telecom, and experience with fusion splicing equipment and testing devices. The role requires climbing, working in confined spaces, and driving per company standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field and demonstrate the ability to supervise others.
• Working knowledge of using various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment.
• Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents.
• Must possess knowledge to identify and understand differences in cable types and environments.
• Must know universal communications color codes.
• Ability to work with others and independently.
• Ability to climb and work at elevations and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Splice various types and sizes of fiber optic cable, including single mode, multi-mode, stranded, and ribbon.
• Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems.
• Review and interpret maps, drawings, and testing documents.
• Perform daily tests and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
• Conduct optical continuity and conformance testing.
• Make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial and building work locations.
