Job summary

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) is seeking a Fiberoptic Superintendent to lead field operations for fiber optic installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance.

You will supervise craft personnel, subcontractors, and crews while ensuring safety, schedule, and budget compliance on projects in MA/VA. Role requires deep fiber optics knowledge, strong supervision experience, and the ability to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of telecommunications or fiber optic construction experience.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience leading field construction crews.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic installation methods, splicing, testing, and termination.
• Experience interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with OTDR testing and fiber certification processes.
• Ability to travel and work extended hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety culture and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
• Conduct daily safety meetings, JHAs, and site inspections.
• Identify and mitigate risks and ensure corrective actions.
• Ensure craft personnel are trained and equipped for safe work.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise all fiber optic construction activities.
• Develop and execute short- and long-term work plans.
• Monitor production rates and address schedule impacts.
• Coordinate with utility owners, contractors, inspectors, and clients.
• Directly supervise foremen, splicers, technicians, and craft personnel.
