Job summary

Mass. Electric Construction Co. in Boston, MA or Virginia Beach, VA seeks a Fiberoptic Superintendent to lead field operations for fiber optic installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance.

You will supervise craft personnel, subcontractors, and field crews while ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to project specifications and quality standards. The role reports to the Field Supervision department and requires 7+ years of telecommunications or fiber optic

Qualifications

• 7+ years of telecommunications or fiber optic construction experience.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience leading field construction crews.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic installation methods and testing procedures.
• Experience interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with OTDR testing and fiber certification processes.
• Ability to travel and work extended hours as project needs require.

Responsibilities

• Champion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
• Conduct daily safety meetings, JHAs, and site inspections.
• Identify and mitigate risks; implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all craft personnel are trained and equipped to perform work safely.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise all fiber optic construction activities: underground/aerial, conduit installation, cable pulling, splicing and termination, testing and commissioning.
• Develop and execute short- and long-term work plans; monitor production rates; address schedule impacts.
• Coordinate work with utility owners, inspectors, clients; supervise foremen and crew.
