Job summary

The University of Virginia (UVA) is seeking a Facility Maintenance Tech III to perform skilled mechanical maintenance across UVA Medical Central and affiliated facilities in Culpeper. The role requires independent work, prioritization, and strong problem solving to support building operations and patient care areas.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, conducting preventative maintenance, and maintaining regulatory records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 6 years in plant operations/general maintenance in industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Minimum of 4 years in health care facility maintenance preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with DMV record; Master Tradesman’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently troubleshoot, repair, and maintain non-clinical mechanical systems and equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and related systems.
• Maintain preventive maintenance documentation and fire extinguisher testing/records.
• Assist electrician and other Facilities Management staff as needed.
• Ensure safety and infection control policies are followed and participate in on-call after hours maintenance.
