Job summary

Powell Industries in Houston, TX is seeking a Lead person Fab to support the 1st Shift Steel Fab Department at our Southeast Houston facility. The role requires directing hourly staff, organizing duties, and ensuring on-time production.

You will mentor team members, oversee safety initiatives, coordinate daily workflow, and work closely with engineers and suppliers to resolve quality issues while maintaining customer delivery dates.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective communication with team members and supervisors.
• Experience with PCs and Windows software; database experience preferred.
• Ability to read technical manuals and engineering drawings; ISO 9000 knowledge helpful.

Responsibilities

• Direct hourly employees in the department.
• Organize duties and oversee training for new hires and cross-training.
• Mentor and facilitate Safety Squad activities.
• Coordinate daily workflow to meet delivery dates.
• Create work orders and write HFDs.
• Troubleshoot machine problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Work with engineers, supervisors and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
• Coordinate inventory cycle counts.
• Forecast raw and external vendor related materials as needed.
