Job summary

The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) is seeking an experienced Event Manager to plan, organize, execute, and manage assigned events at BJCC venues in Birmingham, AL. You will coordinate logistics, documents, and client needs, while resolving issues to deliver exceptional events.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in hospitality/event coordination, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and certifications such as CMP/CSEP/CEM.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years in hospitality industry, meeting planning, or event coordination.
• Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field.
• Industry certifications (CMP, CSEP, CGMP, CMM, CEM, CEPS, or equal) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to ensure exceptional event experiences.
• Serve as primary on-site contact and direct operational staff per client requirements.
• Monitor event work orders and ensure compliance with facility policies and safety rules.
• Lead pre-event planning meetings and review event history data.
• Ensure floor plans meet fire and occupancy codes in coordination with the Fire Prevention Office.
• Develop and present event outlines, drawings, and vendor instructions as needed.
• Resolve on-site issues and disputes with diplomacy and within contract terms.
• Maintain relationships with BJCC partners and clients for successful events.
