Job summary

Day & Zimmermann Maintenance and Construction (DZMC) seeks a Lead Estimator for advanced greenfield projects in the US. The role serves as the senior estimating authority, leading junior estimators and delivering complete estimates with robust quantities, pricing and risk analysis.

You will develop estimates from industry data and subcontractor input, manage estimating systems, and present reviews to management and clients.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of estimating systems, templates, WBS codes, and unit rates.
  • Ability to develop and validate quantities, pricing, manhours, and productivity factors.
  • Strong understanding of construction execution, contracts, and commercial risk.
  • Ability to prepare and present estimate reviews to management and clients.
  • Proven ability to lead estimating efforts and mentor junior estimators.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of complete project estimates, delegate estimating tasks to junior estimators, and ensure accuracy and completeness of quantities, pricing, and assumptions.
  • Develop and validate quantities, material pricing, craft wage rates, and manhours using industry data, historical information, and subcontractor input.
  • Manage estimating systems, estimate shells, templates, and reports; develop summaries and detailed outputs for management review.
  • Identify estimating risks, develop contingency costs, support risk registers, and provide estimating input to proposals and commercial reviews.
  • Interface with Construction, Legal, Procurement, and other departments to evaluate pricing, execution strategy, and estimate assumptions.
  • Prepare and present estimate review packages, support management reviews, and provide technical guidance to junior estimators.

We’re looking for Lead Estimators to join our Day & Zimmermann Projects teams on advanced class greenfield construction projects in the US

A DZMC Lead Estimator works independently and serves as the senior estimating authority on large and complex projects. This role provides full estimating services, leads and delegates work to junior estimators, performs advanced quantity, pricing, and risk analysis, and prepares complete estimate review packages for management and client review.

What You Will Be Doing:

What You Need To Bring To The Table:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field (or equivalent experience) Required
  • 8+ years experience (6-10 + years of progressively responsible estimating experience preferred)
  • Computer proficiency certifications a plus or equivalent education

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $130,000 – $156,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
