Job summary

Hooper, an established electric power and mechanical contractor, seeks an Estimating Manager to lead bid efforts for T&D powerlines and substations. The role focuses on detailed take-offs, pricing, and maintaining estimating systems in a dynamic office setting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of estimating experience in construction, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to mentor other estimators.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of estimating experience on construction projects.
• Ability to lead and mentor estimators.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops a bid schedule in consultation with department head.
• Prepares project estimates with detailed plan take-offs and pricing.
• Updates material pricing and labor rates regularly.
• Maintains the estimating system and software.
• Prices change orders on large projects.
• Evaluates bid results and maintains the bid database.
• Evaluates completed costs against budgets for future estimating.
• Manages, trains, and mentors other estimators to high performance.
• Develops rules of thumb for budget estimating.
• Attends departmental meetings and related functions.
