Job summary
HireVenture is seeking an Estimating Manager for a direct-hire, full-time role in Houston, TX. You will lead detailed cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals on high-value commercial construction projects, including $20M+ scopes.
You will perform quantity takeoffs, review plans, coordinate pricing with subs and vendors, and mentor team members while supporting preconstruction activities and cost-saving strategies.
Qualifications
- 2–5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
- Experience estimating $20M+ commercial construction projects.
- Strong understanding of project plans, specs, scopes of work, and subcontractor pricing.
- Experience with On-Screen Takeoff and BuildingConnected.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from construction plans and documents.
- Review and interpret project plans and specifications.
- Develop scopes of work and coordinate pricing for multiple trades.
- Solicit and coordinate bids from subcontractors and vendors.
- Prepare material and cost summaries based on vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Track pricing, value-engineering opportunities, and estimate changes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and an audit trail throughout the estimating process.
- Incorporate project schedules, logistics, phasing, and site conditions into estimates.
- Work closely with operations and field teams to identify cost-effective construction approaches.
- Support bid-day activities, procurement presentations, and major estimate deliverables.
- Assist with analysis of building components and MEP systems.
