Job summary

Technology Service Corporation Defense Services is seeking a Lead Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) Technician in Huntsville, AL. You will lead a team, schedule and perform environmental tests, and ensure meticulous documentation of results.

Responsibilities include operating specialized vibration and thermal test equipment, ensuring ESD control, and maintaining traceability of data. Candidates must be U.S. citizens with the ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4–6 years of relevant technical experience.
• Candidates should have strong leadership qualities.
• Solid mechanical aptitude with knowledge of electrical systems and components.
• Understanding of torque requirements, tool usage, and calibration/verification practices.
• Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles and tools.
• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead a group of technicians through guidance and mentorship.
• Schedule, perform, and delegate environmental testing.
• Conduct vibration and thermal environmental tests on hardware and electronics per program requirements.
• Handle and process electronic assemblies using ESD controls to prevent FOD.
• Set up, operate, and maintain vibration and thermal test equipment per instructions and calibration standards.
• Record, monitor, and review test data to ensure traceability and compliance.
• Support production and QA by ensuring procedures are followed and results documented.
• Collaborate with engineers and teams to improve processes and quality.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, drawings, operation sheets, and specs.
• Lift/move up to 50 pounds.
