Job summary

Technology Service Corporation in Huntsville, AL seeks a Lead Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) Technician to guide a team through vibration and thermal tests on hardware and electronics assemblies. You will ensure ESD controls are followed and test data is accurately recorded for traceability.

Responsibilities include scheduling, performing, and delegating tests, interpreting complex diagrams, and coordinating with engineers and QA to uphold high quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 4–6 years of relevant technical experience.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical systems and components.
  • Understanding of torque requirements, tool usage, and calibration/verification practices.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles and tools.
  • U.S. Citizenship required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

  • Support production and QA by ensuring testing procedures are followed and results documented.
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to improve processes and resolve issues.
  • Interpret complex wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Job description

Lead Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) Technician – Huntsville, AL

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a group of technicians through guidance and mentorship.
  • Schedule, perform, and delegate environmental testing.
  • Conduct vibration and thermal environmental tests on hardware and electronics assemblies in accordance with program requirements and/or written test procedures.
  • Properly handle and process electronic assemblies using established ESD control practices and procedures to prevent foreign object debris/damage (FOD).
  • Set up, operate, and maintain specialized vibration and thermal test equipment, following detailed work instructions and calibration standards.
  • Accurately record, monitor, and review test data and logs to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • Support production and quality assurance processes by ensuring all testing procedures are executed correctly and results are thoroughly documented.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams to improve processes, resolve issues, and maintain high quality standards.
  • Interpret and work from complex wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, and process documentation.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
