Job summary

VEG in Chicago is seeking a Lead Emergency Veterinarian to ensure clinical excellence and mentor a team of doctors. You will work with the hospital's medical director, champion VEG's patient-centered processes, and model the VEG Way in every case.

Responsibilities include managing shifts, triage, diagnosing and planning treatments, coaching colleagues, and helping grow careers while maintaining top-tier patient care in a fast-paced, high-demand ER.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and license to practice.
• 2+ years of ER experience and critical case management.
• Leadership experience preferred, with ability to mentor others.
• Training in emergency surgery/endoscopy is a plus.
• Willingness to work a mix of clinical and administrative shifts.
• Ability to maintain top-tier client/patient satisfaction and hospital revenue.

Responsibilities

• Work clinical shifts as an emergency doctor.
• Lead and coach doctors to uphold VEG clinical standards.
• Support Medical Director with coverage during callouts or schedule changes.
• Lead monthly doctor meetings and learning rounds.
• Schedule creation and management, including leave requests.
• Address customer concerns and ensure high-quality care.
