Job summary

Centerra Gold’s Thompson Creek Mine in Idaho is looking for a Lead, Equipment Operator to safely run production and support equipment in the pit while assisting with supervision of crews. The role requires coordinating schedules, sequences, and assignments based on priorities and equipment availability.

You will support the Mine Operations Supervisor, promote safe work practices, and help train staff. A strong safety record, leadership ability, and willingness to work in adverse conditions are

  • Knowledge of mine equipment and tools, including designs, repairs, uses and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Promote positive employee morale through open communication.
  • Support and encourage employees to participate in the Work Safe Home Safe process.
  • Assist with accident and incident investigations and prepare reports of findings, as necessary.
  • Work as a team member with supervisors about work-related issues, and assist with training in safety, operational procedures, and/or equipment use.
  • Assist employees with correct job-skill deficiencies.
  • May be assigned other duties.

About Thompson Creek Mine

The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometres southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.

In operations since 1983, the mineuses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.

Thompson Creek Minepromotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Lead, Equipment Operator to join our Thompson Creek team. This leadership role is responsible for the safe operations of production and supportive equipment; assist with supervision of an operation’s crews; coordinate schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel during the supervisor’s absence.
