Job summary

Cobb County Government is seeking an Equipment Operator IV to operate heavy machinery for water and sewer infrastructure projects in Marietta, GA. The role requires a Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement and involves leading crew activities and coordinating with other workers on-site.

You will operate excavators, backhoes, loaders and support vehicles, perform pre-shift checks, follow safety policies, read maps, document work orders, and respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; three years of experience operating equipment in public infrastructure.
• Valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement required.
• Experience operating excavators, track hoes, and backhoes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maneuvers heavy equipment and operates complex mechanisms for water/wastewater projects.
• Operates excavator, track hoe, and backhoe for digging and trenching.
• Inspects equipment and performs pre- and post-shift maintenance.
• Follows safety procedures and directs traffic around work sites.
• Completes forms and documentation and updates GIS/GPS maps.
