Job summary

Cobb County Water System is seeking skilled maintenance personnel to join the System Maintenance Division. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing water and sewer lines, utilizing GPS/GIS tools, and ensuring safety compliance across projects.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of related experience, plus a valid CDL and required certifications within six months of assignment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by two years of experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of water and or sewer utilities.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Must possess or obtain the following certifications within six months of assignment: Confined Space Entry, Trenching and Excavation, and Flagger.

Responsibilities

• Lead with the more technical aspects of the crew's work and provide technical guidance; assist with training and instruction of co-workers.
• Install, maintain, repair, and replace water and sewer lines and related components; locate utilities and inspect system conditions.
• Read maps, use GPS and GIS, update department database, and complete work orders.
• Gather tools and materials, transport supplies, and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
• Perform related duties such as cutting pavement, restoring landscapes, and assisting with larger restoration projects.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as utility trucks, jet hoses, backhoes, and other gear as needed; adhere to safety procedures.
