Job summary

Cobb County Government is seeking a skilled heavy equipment operator to support construction and maintenance of public infrastructure. The role requires operating excavators, loaders, graders, bulldozers, and loaders with precision to meet exacting tolerances.

Responsibilities include performing digging, trenching, grading, and material handling while adhering to safety procedures and traffic control guidelines. A valid Class A CDL is mandatory, with prior experience in public works preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; three years of experience operating equipment in the construction, repair, and/or maintenance of infrastructure or a related field.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Maneuvers heavy equipment and operates complex mechanisms for digging, moving earth and materials, grading, loading, and similar tasks to support County road, grounds, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
• Operates excavator, track hoe, backhoe, loader, and other heavy machinery to perform skilled digging, trenching, and material handling with attention to safety and accuracy.
• Drives large equipment and trucks to transport materials and equipment between job sites; inspects and maintains equipment prior to and after shifts.
• Follows safety procedures, monitors work environment, directs traffic as needed, and coordinates with supervisors and other workers to ensure safe operations.
