Job summary

The State of Nevada invites applications for an Equipment Mechanic at Lovelock Correctional Center. You will maintain a fleet of light, medium, and heavy vehicles, perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs, and supervise an auto shop crew of offenders.

The role may include teaching offenders in small engine repair and re-entry skills. Schedule is flexible with a 40-hour week, five eight-hour shifts or four ten-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Completion of an automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship or equivalent.
• NV state service Equipment Mechanic-In-Training program or 1 year experience.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

• Determine cause of component or system failure using tests and manuals.
• Repair/replace brakes, steering, suspensions, and driveline components.
• Maintain electrical systems, batteries, and wiring; diagnose faults.
• Repair and service transmissions and perform inspections.
• Supervise an auto shop crew of offenders and teach small engine repair.
