Job summary

COWI in New York seeks a Leading Environmental Specialist to join our infrastructure team. You will work with a team of experts on major projects across North America, focusing on environmental planning, permitting, and regulatory analysis.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Environmental Science or natural sciences, 12–15 years of related experience, familiarity with NYC regulations, and strong communication and GIS skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or natural sciences with 12–15 years of related experience in environmental planning, regulatory analysis or related fields.
• Experience with NYCDEP, DEC, MTA, USACE and other agencies is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to convey complex technical topics to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental management on large infrastructure projects, including planning, permitting and construction support.
• Identify risks and actions from environmental analyses and prepare reports and design planning chapters.
• Conduct site inspections and coordinate with design teams on environmental impacts and opportunities for improvement.
• Report to agencies and lead client or team meetings.
