Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist in New York to support the Earth & Environment Team. The role covers environmental permitting, compliance, and field and office work across energy, transportation, and infrastructure projects in NYC and Long Island.

The candidate will perform field surveys, prepare permit applications and technical reports, and coordinate with agencies. Strong communication and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
• 5–7 years of environmental consulting and permitting experience.
• Experience in NYC/Long Island regulatory environment.
• Experience preparing permit applications and technical reports.
• Ability to interpret environmental permits and construction drawings.
• Willingness to travel within NYC metro area.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental field investigations and inspections.
• Support environmental permitting for projects in NYC and Long Island.
• Prepare permit applications, reports, and coordination materials.
• Interpret permit conditions and communicate requirements to teams.
• Provide QA/QC oversight to junior staff.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
