Job summary

Appian is seeking a Senior Business Technology Engineer in McLean, VA. You will architect, optimize, and scale mission-critical platforms, bridging enterprise architecture with hands-on execution.

You will guide cross-functional teams, implement robust configurations, and simulate user interactions before production. This leadership role focuses on secure environments, automated provisioning, and end-to-end system assessments, with a face-to-face, collaborative culture at our corporate

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, or related field.
• 4+ years of desktop engineering or similar IT-related roles.
• Experience configuring Windows 10/11 and macOS in enterprise environments.
• Experience administering device management systems (Intune, Jamf Pro, Addigy, NinjaOne, Intune for macOS).
• Knowledge of PowerShell (Windows) and Bash/zsh (macOS) for automation.
• Experience with endpoint encryption, antivirus deployment, and identity management basics (Entra ID/Azure AD, Okta).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams.

Responsibilities

• Secure Environment & CMMC management aligned with federal standards.
• Enforce and support patch management SLAs for OS and apps.
• Monitor and address security vulnerabilities with security teams.
• Maintain automated onboarding/offboarding workflows (Windows Autopilot, Apple BA/Enrollment).
• Write and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate IT tasks.
• Identify manual IT processes and build automated workflows.
• Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues.
• Maintain documentation, configurations, and SOPs.
• Collaborate with Security and Network teams to ensure endpoint compatibility.
