Job summary

Sammons Financial Group Companies seeks an experienced database leadership professional to oversee an enterprise DBA team dedicated to availability, performance, security, recoverability, and lifecycle management of diverse database platforms.

The role combines hands-on senior DBA duties with strategic architectural input, modernization projects, and robust incident management across on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring strong data protection and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
Master’s degree with technology as a core component or equivalent work experiences preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ experience leading IT planning, application development, support and/or infrastructure organizations.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, develop, and retain a team of database administrators; set priorities, performance expectations, career development plans, and succession strategies.
Remain hands-on as a senior DBA and escalation point for complex incidents and outages, including after-hours support.
Own the operational health of enterprise database platforms across on-premises and cloud environments (SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, MongoDB, etc.).
Establish and enforce standards for database architecture, configuration, security, backup, high-availability, and monitoring.
