Job summary

UCLA Samueli School of Engineering seeks a Student Services Advisor 2 to act as the liaison between administration, students, and faculty, interpreting school and university policies and guiding undergraduate students through degree requirements, course planning and timely enrollment.

The role involves coordinating transfer credit evaluation, managing course schedules, and supporting study abroad and admissions outreach with the broader OASA team.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of University and School rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to student affairs and curricula requirements.
• Familiarity with Registrar's Office and student services such as Career Center and Financial Aid.
• Familiarity with SIS, SRS, Course Inventory Management System, MyUCLA, DARS, Assist, Transferology.
• Ability to interpret transcripts and calculate GPAs and units with attention to detail.
• Computer and database skills to maintain student databases, encode degree audits, and generate reports.
• Strong time management and organizational skills; able to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and work in demanding situations.
• Proficiency in counseling techniques and strong communication skills.
• Oral presentation and interpersonal skills for diverse populations.
• Ability to write grammatically correct reports and correspondence.
• Supervisory skills to train and monitor student clerks.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on university/school/degree requirements and course planning.
• Review quarterly department course schedules for conflicts and capacity.
• Coordinate transfer credit evaluation and articulation agreements (Transferology/ASSIST).
• Assist with transfer admissions and attend outreach events.
• Oversee summer session and course equivalency reviews.
• Maintain course evaluation databases and data reports.
• Coordinate study abroad processes with UCLA and partner offices.
• Organize workshops with International Education Office (Discover UCLA Engineering).
• Represent OASA on engineering liaison initiatives and attend meetings.
• Assist in hiring, training, and supervising student clerks and peer counselors.
