Job summary

University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is seeking a Student Services Advisor 2 in the Samueli School of Engineering to lead academic counseling for undergraduate chemical, bioengineering and civil engineering students. You will advise on degree requirements, plan courses, and monitor academic standing, while coordinating with departments on schedule changes and transfer credits.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of University and School rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to student affairs and curricula requirements.
• Working knowledge of Registrar's Office and student services such as Career Center, The Center for Accessible Education, Counseling and Psychological Services, Dashew Center and Financial Aid.
• Familiarity with University on-line systems and procedures, SIS, SRS, CIMS CMS, MyUCLA, DARS, Assist, Transferology.
• Ability to interpret transcripts and manually calculate GPAs and units with attention to detail.
• Computer and database skills to maintain and encode student databases, generate reports and presentations (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Wordpress, UNIX).
• Time management and organizational skills, ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task with interruptions, set priorities and work independently.
• Ability to employ fundamental counseling techniques.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
• Ability to make oral presentations to student groups and staff.
• Strong report-writing skills.
• Supervisory ability to train and supervise student clerks.

Responsibilities

• Advise undergraduates on degree requirements and course planning.
• Coordinate course schedules and review for conflicts and enrollment capacity.
• Oversee transfer credit evaluation and articulation agreements.
• Assist with admissions outreach and transfer processes.
• Manage study abroad coordination and related workshops.
• Produce statistical and analytical reports for leadership.
• Support OASA events and staffing during evenings or weekends.
