Job summary

UCLA Samueli School of Engineering invites applications for a Student Services Advisor 2 in the Office of Academic and Student Affairs. The role serves as a liaison among administration, students, faculty, and outside offices to interpret policies and support undergraduate engineering programs.

You will advise students on degree requirements, plan courses, monitor standing, and coordinate course credit evaluation and transfer articulation across systems.

Qualifications

• Understanding of university policies and school requirements.
• Familiarity with registrar and student services.
• Experience with SIS, SRS, CIMS CMS, MyUCLA, DARS, Assist, Transferology.
• Ability to interpret transcripts and calculate GPAs with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and basic database skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a demanding environment.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Able to present to student groups and staff.
• Experience in training/ supervising student staff.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on university, school and degree requirements and plan courses while monitoring academic standing.
• Review quarterly department course schedules for conflicts, omissions and enrollment capacity.
• Coordinate transfer credit evaluation for courses taken outside UCLA.
• Maintain course articulation agreements in Transferology and ASSIST with up-to-date data.
• Assist with transfer admissions and participate in outreach events.
• Oversee summer session and transfer course equivalency reviews.
• Produce statistical and analytical reports for leadership.
• Organize workshops with UCLA's International Education Office for Discover UCLA Engineering.
• Represent UCLA Samueli School of Engineering on the Engineering Liaison Council.
• Hire, train and supervise student clerks and graduate peer counselors.
