Job summary

Voyager Technologies seeks a Chief Engineer for VTVL systems to lead end-to-end mission success, overseeing multidisciplinary teams and complex systems engineering processes. The role reports to the Chief Engineer of Lunar Systems and is onsite in Mojave, CA, or Long Beach, CA.

You will own architecture, margins, and risk, drive design through qualification and flight test, and partner with manufacturing, test, and operations to ensure a producible, safe and capable vehicle.

Qualifications

• 15 years engineering experience.
• Lead technical authority for major design decisions and risk.
• Experience leading or participating in Engineering Review Boards.
• Deep understanding of system architecture, requirements, and risk.
• Translate customer needs and CONOPS into engineering design.

Responsibilities

• Own vehicle technical architecture, design philosophy, requirements, interfaces, margins, and performance allocations.
• Serve as senior technical authority, resolving cross-functional disagreements on engineering merit.
• Lead vehicle design and development from concept through qualification, flight test, and deployment.
• Own vehicle margins (mass, CG, propellant, delta-V, thrust-to-weight, structural/thermal, power, comms, control).
• Own technical risk identification and retirement; drive early testing of high-risk technologies.
• Define development, qualification, and flight-test approach to retire risk.
• Establish design standards and engineering rigor with Chief Engineer; tailor to risk posture.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, test, and operations to ensure manufacturability and testability.
