Job summary

The Duke Energy Corporation seeks a Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership and solve complex transmission engineering problems. You will guide project engineers, review designs, and mentor teams while delivering results with minimal supervision.

This hybrid role requires strong communication, long-term planning, and coordination with multidisciplinary groups to meet business goals. Requires a BS in Engineering, 8+ years of experience, and a PE license; relocation assistance is provided

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience.
  • Valid Professional Engineer’s License (prior to hire).
  • Master’s degree in Engineering may be substituted for the BS degree.

Responsibilities

  • Guides, mentors, and reviews deliverables from project engineers across transmission projects.
  • Provides engineering guidance for complex problems with long-term system-wide impacts.
  • Plans, schedules, and monitors work to achieve business goals with limited standardization.
  • Coordinates complex projects and disseminates knowledge to enhance the unit’s position.
  • Demonstrates broad knowledge and applies best practices to improve processes and standards.
  • Maintains accurate records and effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Supports the company’s goals and represents the company professionally.
  • Coaches and mentors engineering professionals at various levels.
