The Anywhere Real Estate Core Capabilities API Engineering team develops reusable, enterprise capability APIs used by internal & external product teams to build and release real estate software. We are seeking a Lead API Engineer (individual contributor) with proven experience in developing cloud-native API applications using Node.js. Significant experience in MongoDB, AWS, CI/CD, and test automation is required. This is a senior role focused on coding, requiring excellent technical skills, as well as leadership, collaboration, communication, and documentation abilities. The candidate should be passionate and capable of building positive peer relationships. Full-stack experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Job Summary

The team develops reusable APIs for enterprise use, supporting rapid development and deployment of real estate software. The role involves developing cloud-native APIs with Node.js, MongoDB, AWS, and automation tools, with a focus on quality, scalability, and collaboration.

What You’ll Do

• Design and deliver scalable, resilient software solutions.
• Align solutions with technical strategy, standards, and best practices (architecture, security, cloud, agile).
• Conduct design and code reviews.
• Promote automation in product delivery and operational support.
• Analyze and validate solutions for viability.
• Identify and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with the Product Team to refine business requirements.
• Deliver solutions meeting business needs and satisfaction criteria.
• Build relationships within the organization to support team goals.
• Provide strategic insight and clear communication to team members and partners.
• Lead through change and adopt new technologies to meet evolving business objectives.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

• 9+ years of experience in an Agile development environment.
• 5+ years developing microservices and RESTful APIs with Node.js.
• 5+ years working with cloud-native applications on AWS (Lambda, ECS, Kubernetes, API Gateway, etc.).
• 3+ years in MongoDB development.
• 3+ years scripting CI/CD pipelines and integrating DevOps tools.
• 3+ years using test automation tools like Cypress.
• 2+ years with Infrastructure as Code tools (CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform).
• Strong understanding of networking and security concepts.
• Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication skills, tailored to the audience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Bonus Points

• 5+ years experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, etc.).
• Experience translating UI/UX designs into code.
