Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior API (Node.js) Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of scalable and performant backend APIs that are easy to maintain and extend.
In this role, you will work closely with the Lead API (Node.js) Engineer to take ownership of parts of the codebase, contribute to the establishment of best practices, and help address complex technical challenges.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Node.js, solid experience with backend architectures, and the ability to mentor junior engineers.
A passion for exploring new technologies and continuously improving development practices is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

· Collaborate on a distributed remote team
· Take ownership of specific parts of the codebase, ensuring stability and performance
· Help establish and enforce best practices for code quality and review processes
· De-risk product development by adding new features while preventing regressions
· Help hire, support and mentor junior members of the team
· Communicate and share progress through the agile process

Minimum Experience:

· B.S. Degree in computer-related field
· 5+ years of relevant work experience
· Experience with Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript and React
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· Backend programming experience with building microservices and RESTful services in Node.js
· Strong understanding of server-side software architecture, paradigms, and design patterns
· Experience with agile software development process
· Solid understanding of networking and security concepts like DNS, Load Balancers, Firewalls, Encryption, etc.
· Experience developing cloud-native applications using AWS Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, SQS, Kafka, etc.
· Experience with orchestration using AWS CloudFormation/ AWS CDK/ Terraform
· Experience with scripting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps

Preferred Experience:
· Experience with Canva templates and APIs
· Experience with DB design and optimization, including SQL and NoSQL databases
· Familiarity with mobile app development
