Job summary

GE Aerospace in Evendale seeks a Lead Engineer for MBE Technology to advance MB-DMI with robust MBD data practices and a digital thread across design, manufacturing, and inspection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited university or college (OR a High School Diploma/GED with 4 years Software Engineering Experience) + 4 years relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to align stakeholders across diverse groups (Engineering, Product Definition, Sourcing, Supply Chain).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
• 1+ year of aerospace experience (preferred).
• Experience with standards and process development (preferred).
• Experience with digital transformation and data traceability initiatives (preferred).
• Knowledge of PLM/CAD/quality processes and GD&T (preferred).

Job Description Summary

The Lead Engineer – MBE Technology drives the execution and end-to-end delivery of projects that improve data continuity, digital traceability, and collaboration across the product development-to-manufacturing lifecycle. You will help build the GE Aerospace digital ecosystem that enables GE Edison Works to deliver next-generation propulsion systems with speed, rigor, and repeatability. This position is ideal for a highly collaborative engineer who brings technical depth in Model Based Engineering / Model Based Definition (MBD) and the initiative to turn new ideas into sustainable, scalable standards. You will work across Engineering, Product Definition, Sourcing, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure MBD data is accurate, complete, interoperable, and consumable by downstream manufacturing and inspection processes. A key part of the role is external supplier enablement: you will build relationships with supplier sites, assess digital maturity, and create/execute roadmaps—using standard work—to align supplier capabilities with customer requirements and supplier shop business realities. This role supports GE Aerospace’s Model-Based Enterprise (MBE) / digital engineering initiatives, enabling Model Based Design-Manufacturing-Inspection (MB-DMI) outcomes. The team partners across Engineering, Product Definition, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality to improve data quality, traceability, and digital consumption of product definition through design, manufacturing, and inspection workflows.

Role Overview

The Lead Engineer - MBE Technology is responsible for advancing MB-DMI objectives by establishing robust model-based definition (MBD) data practices that are accurate, traceable, and consumable by both humans and downstream digital systems. This role develops and implements processes and standards for MBD creation and management, drives interoperability across information systems, and collaborates across functions and external operations partners to enable seamless digital thread execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive MB-DMI objectives using strong technical competency and systems thinking.
• MBD Data Element Ownership: Ensure creation and maintenance of MBD data elements (geometry, annotations, attributes, product characteristics, presentation states) to both human- and machine-readable standards.
• Process & Standards Development: Develop and implement processes and standards for model-based data creation and ongoing management.
• Data Quality & Traceability: Partner across functions to ensure MBD data is accurate, complete, and traceable across the product lifecycle.
• Digital Consumption Enablement: Work with internal and external operations teams to enable seamless digital consumption of MBD data in manufacturing and inspection environments.
• Interoperability & Data Structures: Develop and maintain MBD data structures that support interoperability between information systems (e.g., CAD/PLM and downstream consumers).
• Technology & Industry Awareness: Stay current with industry trends and advancements in MBD/MBE and related technologies to recommend improvements and influence future direction.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with CAD and PLM software and MBD-related software (e.g., ITI CADIQ, Capvidia MBDvivia, or similar tools)
