Job summary

GE Aerospace is seeking a Process Engineer to support manufacturing processes for CMC parts in a production environment. The role focuses on execution, shop-floor support, and driving improvements with limited remote work and occasional travel to equipment runs and supplier visits.

The candidate will lead cost control, tooling definitions, and DFM proposals while collaborating with design engineering, operations and quality to improve manufacturability and sustain improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or HS diploma with 4+ years manufacturing eng experience.
  • 3+ years CNC machining/programming experience in production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, support and execute APQP requirements.
  • Define and control production processes including tooling and equipment.
  • Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools or equipment during trials.
  • Improve Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.
  • Lead improvements from concept to completion and ensure sustainment.
  • Drive and lead cycle time improvements.
  • Lead Low Rate and Full Rate Production.
  • Design and implement equipment, tooling & fixtures for manufacturing development.
  • Create and maintain schedules to meet business metrics.
  • Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action activities.
  • Listen to floor, identify problems and implement countermeasures.
  • DFM proposals to Design Engineering with data and solutions.
  • Manage projects related to manufacturing process enhancement.
  • Hands-on problem solving and investigation.
  • Limited remote working conditions.

Job Description Summary

Process Engineering position associated with the manufacturing processes of Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) parts for aircraft engines in a production environment. Will focus on improvements and shop floor support for a product line in an assigned area. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role will have autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Self-directed judgment and drive will be required.

Job Description Key Responsibilities
  • Perform related tasks for Tollgate, MRL & PRR NPI development.
  • Plan, support and execute APQP requirements.
  • Create, propose & control cost (budgets).
  • Define and control production processes including tooling and equipment.
  • Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment during trials, etc.
  • Improve all aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.
  • Lead improvements from concept to completion & assure sustainment.
  • Drive & lead/cycle time improvements.
  • Lead & support Low Rate and Full Rate Production.
  • Design & implement necessary equipment, tooling & fixtures for manufacturing development and process improvements.
  • Create, maintain & adhere to schedules to achieve business metrics/targets.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline.
  • Participate & Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action activity related to concerns that arise during the manufacturing process.
  • Listen to the voice on the floor, understand the problem and implement effective countermeasures & assure sustainability.
  • DFM proposals to Design Engineering with supporting data, proposing solutions and see implemented.
  • Manage projects related to manufacturing process enhancement.
  • Hands on problem solving & investigation.
  • Continuous improvement mind set.
  • Work closely with shop floor personnel.
  • Use judgment and ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance.
  • Uses on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
  • May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

  • Perform root cause and corrective action of product & process failures and defects.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, operations, and quality to improve manufacturability and resolve issues.
  • Limited remote working conditions.
  • Limited travel (equipment run off, supplier visits).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of manufacturing engineering experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining/programming experience with Production Processes and Equipment.
Desired Characteristics
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience) in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical/Manufacturing Technology.
  • 7~10 years of CNC machining/programming experience with Production Processes and Equipment.
  • Equipment procurement/maturation experience (scope creation thru installation sustainment period).
  • Proven root cause & corrective action experience.
  • Proven process improvement history.
  • CAD/CAM CNC programming experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to document, plan and execute improvement activities.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Cp/cpk/SPC experience.
  • Data driven decision making.
  • High ownership skills with ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Challenge the status quo.
  • Grinding experience.
