Job summary

Parsley Health is hiring a Lead Engineer to steer a small, high-leverage engineering team while staying deeply hands-on in code. This player-coach role balances 60–70% design/ship work with managing one full-time engineer and coordinating contractors.

You will collaborate with Product, Clinical, Design, Data, and Security to turn priorities into reliable software, and will report to the CTO. East/Central time zones preferred; NYC area candidates welcome.

Qualifications

• Strong full-stack engineering experience across backend services and modern frontend applications.
• Experience as a tech lead who also managed people, or staff-level IC with mentoring.
• Proven backend experience in Go or Kotlin, with a preference for both.
• Comfort across Node, TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure in AWS or GCP, preference for GCP.
• Experience running or supporting production workloads on Kubernetes.
• Strong product judgment and cross-functional partnership.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering tools.
• High bar for reliability, security, code quality, and clear definition of done.
• Comfort in a small, fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a lean engineering team and coordinate 3-4 developers plus contractors.
• Own technical direction, making architecture decisions and code reviews.
• Stay hands-on and ship backend services, full-stack features, and tooling.
• Partner with Product and Clinical teams to translate needs into technical plans.
• Support AI-enabled engineering practices with responsible usage and governance.
• Keep foundations healthy with observability, deployment hygiene, and reliability.
