Job summary

The Grand Resort and Spa in Fort Lauderdale seeks a hands-on Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of the hotel’s 96-room property. You will manage building systems, guest rooms, public areas, and grounds, ensuring safety, cleanliness, comfort, and asset protection.

You will lead daily repairs, preventive maintenance, hurricane preparedness, and energy-management initiatives, coordinating with General Manager and department heads to minimize downtime and guest

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel engineering or facilities maintenance.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and preventive maintenance.
• Experience coordinating contractors and managing maintenance expenses.
• Knowledge of pool equipment, coastal property maintenance, and hurricane preparedness is desirable.
• Strong organizational, communication, troubleshooting, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day maintenance and repair of the hotel property.
• Inspect and maintain guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces.
• Manage HVAC and mechanical systems for comfort and efficiency.
• Coordinate plumbing and electrical system maintenance and licensed contractor work.
• Oversee pool area and beachfront property maintenance and safety.
• Develop and monitor a preventive maintenance program for all critical systems.
• Assist with hurricane preparedness, emergency planning, and post-storm recovery.
• Ensure fire, life-safety, and regulatory compliance across facilities.
• Manage vendor and contract work to ensure safety and quality.
