Job summary

Valmet in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Energy & Recovery Engineering team. You will lead design and execution of complex projects across global teams, ensuring equipment meets customer requirements and Valmet standards.

You will collaborate with Product, Field Service, Sales, Global Engineering, and Project Management to deliver high-quality solutions, develop drawings in AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and drive continuous improvement while traveling 20–30% to customer sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in design, layout, or stress engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for production-level drawings.
• Strong experience in Pulp & Power industry, specifically: Recovery boilers, Power boilers; evaporator experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineering activities with focus on HSE and equipment design.
• Execute and oversee projects ensuring customer and Valmet requirements.
• Coordinate global teams, schedules, and technical resources.
• Develop and review engineering drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Support site service projects and field issue resolution.
