Job summary

Valmet in the United States is seeking an experienced project manager to lead complex capital equipment projects from order intake through warranty completion. You will serve as the primary customer contact and coordinate with external partners to ensure delivery, quality, and value.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, 4+ years of relevant experience, strong communication and English language skills, and willingness to travel 25% up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Pulp and Paper Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of industry-related experience.
• Experience leading capital equipment projects with multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel 25% to 50% as required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary customer contact for the entire project scope, including coordination with external partners, and maintain a proactive customer relationship throughout the project.
• Manage contractual obligations, change management activities, contract amendments, milestone certificates, and other project deliverables in accordance with contract requirements.
• Lead project execution by establishing the project organization, coordinating resources, managing schedules, budgets, risks, opportunities, and project performance.
• Coordinate activities across Valmet units, customers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure delivery, quality, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved.
• Monitor project financial performance, including forecasts, revenue recognition, customer payments, invoicing approvals, and profitability.
• Oversee site activities before, during, and after installation and commissioning, including warranty period follow-up and performance verification.
• Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, applicable regulations, customer standards, and Valmet policies.
• Lead project teams to achieve project goals while driving effective communication, collaboration, and lessons learned throughout project execution.
