Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Lead Start-Up Engineer for North America, based in Green Bay or nearby, with strong startup and project leadership skills. You will plan, verify, and start-up project portions per drawings and specifications and serve as the client representative on site.

Travel may exceed 50%. The role requires an engineering degree and prior startup/project management experience. Competitive compensation and benefits are included, with relocation not offered.

Job description

Expand your technical and organizational expertise as a Lead Start up Engineer for North America

As a Lead Start Up Engineer at Valmet. you will apply your skills and experience at the Site Phase of projects for Valmet Tissue Machines. The primary responsibility will be to check-out, verify and start-up in accordance with drawings, instructions, and relevant technical documentation. The role also involves being Valmet's representative towards the client.

Engineering & Sourcing Phase

• The Lead Start-Up Engineer plans the check-out of own part of the project, establishes ECO´s, participate in the check-out in the assembly hall, makes a check-out schedule.
• Books the necessary tools and equipment and send them to Site.
• Gives support to project managers during the delivery phase in technical matters both internally and towards the customer.

Site Phase

• The Lead Start-Up Engineer will act as Valmet Start-Up Coordinator in cases where Commissioning Coordinator is not on site or not included in contract.
• The Lead Start-Up Engineer carries out the check-out of own part of project, coordinates, and reports to the Commissioning Coordinator.
• Reporting how the work is progressing and how much resources are being used to the Site manager / Installation Coordinator / Project manager.
• The Lead Start-Up Engineer also reports deviations and is responsible for following up on own part of the punch list.

Guarantee Phase

• The Lead Start-Up Engineer is a support to the Reference Manager that the scope of delivery works in the customer's environment and shall support after takeover until handover to the Service Organization.
• Lead Start-Up Engineer can be given responsibility for carrying out performance guarantee trials at the customer.

Expectations

Travel will be required – estimate could reach more than 50%
