Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a combustion CFD engineer for its Gas Turbine Engineering group. The role focuses on advanced modeling, CFD simulation, and methods development to predict combustor performance and support engine programs.

You will collaborate with design engineers and act as a contributor to root cause analyses while ensuring durability, operability, and emissions requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in a practical application.
  • Minimum 4 years of combustion CFD modeling experience.
  • Experience with CAD and pre-processing tools to prepare and mesh gas turbine components.

Responsibilities

  • Use simulation to conduct combustion CFD analysis to predict combustor performance parameters.
  • Support the development and implementation of the combustion modeling roadmap.
  • Solve combustor design and analysis problems using pre-processing and CFD tools.
  • Assist in design decisions and root cause analysis by leveraging predictive analysis simulations.
  • Execute the analysis or evaluation projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to engineering practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Document work clearly and effectively present your work (including assumptions, status, and results) in formal and informal reviews.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and templates to be communicated with the global GE Vernova Combustion community.
  • Embrace Lean principles and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

As a member of the Gas Turbine Engineering organization of GE Gas Power, part of GE Vernova, specifically a member of the Combustion Design module, you will be an active contributor to the advanced modeling, CFD simulation and methods development activities. You will perform high-end CFD simulations to model aerothermal performance parameters of the combustion system. You will collaborate with design engineers and work closely with the Controlled Title Holders in supporting engine programs and root cause analysis while ensuring that designs meet all durability, operability, and emissions requirements.

What you’ll bring - Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in a practical application.
  • Minimum 4 years of combustion CFD modeling experience.
  • You have experience with CAD and pre-processing tools to prepare and mesh gas turbine components.

What will make you stand out - Desired Qualifications

  • You hold a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or closely related engineering discipline.
  • You have experience in gas turbine CFD modeling with commercial codes such as Ansys Fluent, Star-CCM+ or Charles.
  • You have experience with NX (Unigraphics) and Python scripting.
  • You are familiar with AI and possess a continuous improvement (Lean) mindset.
  • You are someone who brings innovative mindset, is a team player, and has excellent presentation and communication skills.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
