Job summary

GE Vernova in the United States seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive design, analysis, and optimization of gas power components. You will collaborate with global teams to deliver high-quality solutions while upholding safety and performance standards.

You will own mechanical hardware, validate designs, and lead continuous improvement through RCA and Lean methods, mentoring engineers and guiding cross-functional projects from concept through delivery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Analysis: Execute mechanical design and analysis (stress, modal, lifing) for components in gas turbines, steam, generators, and accessory systems.
  • Technical Stewardship: Own mechanical hardware; perform validation testing; evaluate designs for thermal growth, manufacturing variation, and assembly stack-up to ensure optimal product behavior.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering experts, manufacturing, and sourcing teams to optimize sub-systems and components.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead root cause analyses (RCA) to improve reliability, quality, and yield. Apply Lean principles to streamline processes and drive innovation.
  • Project Delivery: Manage milestones through formal/informal technical reviews, ensuring compliance with NPI processes and design practices.
  • Mentorship: Foster a collaborative environment by coaching team members and building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Principal and Chief Engineers.

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, analysis, and optimization of components across our gas power portfolio. What You’ll Bring - Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Additional 1-2 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Technical proficiency in engineering software (ANSYS, NX) and programming languages (Python, Excel VBA) for data analysis.
  • A "Lean" mindset, familiarity with AI-driven tools, and a passion for innovative design.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative, inclusive, and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with a transparent approach to project management and problem-solving.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
