Job summary

GE Vernova, Greenville, is seeking a mechanical or aerospace engineer to own aerothermal aspects of combustion systems for industrial gas turbines. You will perform hand calcs, flow modeling, lab work, CFD, and full temperature/pressure testing, presenting results in reviews.

Required: Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering and 4+ years in the gas turbine industry; Masters and 4+ years in gas turbine design and 3+ years in combustion design preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in the gas turbine industry.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of gas turbine design experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of combustion design experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design combustion systems to meet overall gas turbine product requirements.
  • Complete procedures and standard work using hand calculations, test data and engineering judgment.
  • Autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework while consulting senior members when needed.

Job Description Summary

A mechanical or aerospace engineer with gas turbine combustor experience who will contribute to, and collectively own, the aerothermal aspects of the design, development, testing, emissions capability and operability of GE's industrial gas turbine aeroderivative combustion systems. The role entails fast-paced, diverse engineering deliverables in both hands-on and desk/computer contexts, including exposure to all elements of the engineering cycle: design hand-calcs, flow-modeling, lab work, CFD, full temperature & pressure testing, probabilistic analysis & data reduction, and verbal & written presenting of data/conclusions.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities

You will design combustion systems to meet overall gas turbine product requirements. You will be responsible for completing procedures, design templates, and other standard work methods using hand calculations, test data, and good engineering judgment to justify designs against acceptance criteria. You will have autonomy to make decisions with a defined framework. In addition, you will consult and seek support from more senior members when necessary to accomplish defined work/priorities. You will effectively document and present results in formal and informal reviews. You will protect the IP rights of the Company and agree to the overall business priorities: 1. Safety, 2. Quality, 3. Delivery, 4. Cost, and prioritized in this order.

Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
