Job summary

Distributed Spectrum Inc. in NYC is seeking an Engineering Manager (Embedded) to lead the team building the software running on our sensors.

You will own the embedded Linux platform, device interfaces, and the runtime that runs models on small chips, ensuring reliability for field deployments. This role is leader-first and technically deep: you won’t write production code daily, but you will own architecture, review designs, coach engineers, and hire as the team grows.

Qualifications

• Experience in embedded firmware or systems engineering leadership.
• Strong understanding of OS, memory, hardware, and network interactions.
• Proven ability to design software for constrained devices and update fleets remotely.
• Experience shipping software onto hardware deployed in the field.

Responsibilities

• Own the embedded software platform including Linux, build tooling, service orchestration, and sensor software.
• Lead board bring-up, driver work, and hardware-software handoffs for new revisions.
• Oversee on-sensor model deployment, runtime tooling, and deployment pipelines.
• Drive reliability, OTA updates, fleet health, and field deployment outcomes.
• Coach and hire embedded engineers; align roadmaps with company goals.
