Job summary

BETA Technologies seeks a Lead Embedded Software Engineer for Airborne Software to drive the safety-critical embedded software lifecycle in our airborne systems. You will lead a team of developers and testers, define architecture, manage requirements, and ensure DO-178C Level A compliance.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree from an accredited university.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in real-time embedded software development for safety-critical systems.
• Expert level knowledge and experience with the activities and outputs required for DO-178C Level A compliance.
• Strong experience and expertise in the full software life cycle for aerospace embedded software.
• Ability to effectively organize and lead a team of up to 20 software engineers.
• Experience with FAA personnel and DERs communications and obligations.
• Experience with RTCA DO-330 tool qualification objectives, activities and outputs.
• Experience with RTCA DO-331 model-based development objectives, activities, and outputs.

Responsibilities

• Analyze system architecture, functionality, hardware specifications, and safety requirements to lead the design, integration, test and analysis of an embedded software project
• Coordinate with adjacent disciplines for successful certification of an embedded software project
• Lead project engineers to understand business drivers and delivery timelines, staffing and equipment needs
• Establish work assignments, feature sets, and deadlines to execute the project efficiently
• Prepare and present project status reports depicting velocity and dependencies for leadership and certifying authorities
• Create and maintain certification documentation and participate in audits/reviews
• Hands-on contribution to requirements management, architecture/design, and test development
• Mentor junior engineers on DO-178C objectives and best practices
