Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Herndon, VA is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Lead for embedded systems using Rust. You will guide adoption of Rust, migrate legacy code, and set best practices across multiple product lines while serving on a Scrum team.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage SDLC activities, and collaborate with cross-functional groups to meet performance and security requirements for mission-critical systems. Will travel <10% for onboarding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or related field.
• Graduate degree preferred; equivalent experience may apply.
• 9+ years of relevant experience; 7+ years with graduate degree; or 13+ years without degree.
• At least 2 years of experience leading software development teams.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development across the SDLC for embedded Rust projects.
• Guide adoption of Rust across multiple product lines and teams.
• Migrate legacy software to Rust with memory-safe design and practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define interfaces and performance requirements.
• Lead software development activities across requirements, design, implementation, integration and testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews; participate in peer reviews.
