Job summary

Paulding County Schools SYSTEM-WIDE in Dallas, GA seeks an Elementary School Special Education Lead for an anticipated vacancy. The role centers on IEP oversight, compliance, and mentorship within the ESEP program, with a 190-day, 8-hour workday schedule.

Responsibilities include coordinating assessments, leading IEP meetings, and liaising between special and general education staff. Valid GA teaching cert with SPED endorsement or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in assigned field as required by the Professional Standards Commission.
• Endorsements in Special Education preferred (General/Adaptive) or equivalent.
• Certification in one or more academic content areas (P-5, 4-8, 6-12, or P-12) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Monitors due process procedures/timelines for all students with disabilities.
• Coordinates and verifies state and federal funding counts.
• Coordinate assessments.
• Assists in conducting IEP meetings.
• Assists with area meetings and dissemination of information.
• Mentor teachers as assigned.
• Demonstrates effective teaching strategies and interventions for students with disabilities.
• Serves as RTI/SST contact person.
• Problem solves and handles difficult situations.
• Instructs or consults with students with disabilities when necessary.
• Serves as case manager for students on consult.
• Assists with end of year procedures.
• Liaises between special education and regular education staff.
• Provides training to school staff.
• Reviews and finalizes IEPs.
• Performs other duties as directed by Superintendent.
