Job summary

Seneca Federal Solutions is seeking a Lead Telecommunications / Electrical Technician to support a two-year government project with potential for long-term employment. This role involves on-site field work, extensive travel, and the installation and maintenance of communication systems, cables, and equipment.

Candidates must be eligible for government clearance, able to read technical docs, and proficient with tools and diagnostic software.

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible for a government clearance and pass NCIC/SF-86 background investigations.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, layouts, plans, diagrams.
  • Ability to physically install and configure equipment, connections, wiring, and cable.
  • Skill in the use of test equipment and diagnostic software.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software.
  • Skill in the use of standard and specialized hand and power tools (crimpers, screwdrivers, cutters, pliers).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work at heights.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 90%.

Responsibilities

  • Determine routing and placement of telecommunications cabling and fiber-optic cable.
  • Bend and install EMT and GRC.
  • Install equipment and components, including cables, instruments, and networking gear.
  • Move, relocate, and reinstall equipment as required.
  • Ensure work complies with building and electrical codes.
  • Document installations, modifications, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assist in planning system and facility layout changes.
  • Safely operate lifts and work at heights.

Seneca Federal Solutions has an immediate need for a Lead Telecommunications / Electrical Technician to support a stable, growing two-year government project with the potential for long-term employment and advancement. This hands-on position is ideal for an experienced electrical or telecommunications technician who enjoys traveling, working in the field, and taking on meaningful responsibilities.

Candidates may be based anywhere but must be willing to travel up to 90% and work on-site as contract needs require. This position requires eligibility for a government clearance and regular NCIC and SF-86 background investigations. Candidates must be able to pass the required federal background investigation.

The Lead Telecommunications / Electrical Technician installs and maintains communication systems, including wire and cable, facilities and equipment, centralized and distributed telecommunications systems, and associated peripheral equipment. The technician provides technical system support involving the installation, maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications equipment, products, and systems.

Systems may be electromechanical or computerized and are typically integrated with or interconnected to larger systems. Work may be performed on-site, off-site, or at remote locations. The technician applies troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to determine the appropriate restoration or repair actions.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Determine the routing and placement of telecommunications cabling, electrical wiring, and fiber-optic cable.
  • Bend and install electrical metallic tubing (EMT) and galvanized rigid conduit (GRC).
  • Perform the physical installation of equipment and components, including wiring, cabling, telephone instruments, microwave and satellite communication modules, interface cards, modems, hubs, routers, multiplexers, and equipment racks.
  • Move, relocate, and reinstall equipment as required.
  • Ensure work complies with applicable building and electrical codes.
  • Document and log equipment and system installations, modifications, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assist in planning and implementing telecommunications system and facility-layout changes.
  • Safely operate scissor lifts and boom lifts and perform work at heights.
Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to physically install and configure equipment, connections, wiring, and cable.

  • Skill in the use of standard and specialized hand and power tools, including crimpers, screwdrivers, cutters, and pliers.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 90%
