Job summary

Seneca Federal Solutions, part of Seneca Nation Group, is seeking a Telecommunications Technician to support a government client. The role requires up to 90% travel and on-site work as contract needs dictate.

A federal clearance and background investigations are required and candidate must be clearable. The technician installs, maintains, and repairs all aspects of telecommunications systems, including wiring, fiber, and equipment, applying troubleshooting techniques to restore or repair as

Qualifications

  • Must be clearable and able to pass a federal background investigation.
  • Knowledge of communications wiring standards and installation practices.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications switching and common control systems.
  • Proficient in using personal computers and software.
  • Proficient in using and operating test equipment and diagnostic software.
  • Ability to physically install and configure equipment, connections, wiring, and cable from layouts or plans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematic diagrams, and related documentation.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to use standard and specialized hand tools, crimpers, screwdrivers, cutters, pliers, and power tools as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Determine routing and placement of cabling, wiring, and fiber optics.
  • Perform physical installation of equipment and components (e.g., wiring, cabling, telephone instruments, microwave/satellite modules, interface cards, modems, hubs, routers, multiplexors, equipment racks).
  • Move or relocate and reinstall equipment.
  • Respond to trouble reports and perform troubleshooting activities to repair or replace malfunctioning equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with building and electrical codes.
  • Document and/or log equipment/system installation and modification actions.
  • Assist in planning and implementing departmental telecommunications and/or facility layout changes.

Job description

Seneca Federal Solutions has an immediate need for a Telecommunications Technician. This role supports our government client and requires up to 90% travel. Candidates can be based anywhere but will be expected to travel on‑site as contract needs require. The position requires a federal clearance and regular NCIC and SF‑86 background investigations. Candidates must be clearable.

The Telecommunications Technician installs and maintains all aspects of communication systems, including wire, cable, facilities, and equipment. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of telecommunications equipment, products, and systems. The technician may work on‑site, off‑site, or at remote locations, applying troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to determine appropriate restoration or repair actions.
